Lap Band Question
I had lap band surgery 5 weeks ago and the port was affixed using the mesh screen w/o stitching the port in. It apparently is a new technique.
I had my port check and all is good.
I want to start working out again (I have always been very active, even at 318 lbs), but am a little afraid of undoing my port. The Dr. said I can golf in moderation if I don't make any hillbilly swings, but said that sit-ups and abdominal exercises are out of the question right now.
Anyone who has been through this have any advice on when I can get more active again?

I am not sure about the 'mesh screen' as my port was stitched in the old fashioned way, but I was not able to do any exercise directly impacting my abs for about 2 months. This was to give time for my inside stitching to heal, and the stitching outside to close up completely, too. I was jogging on a treadmill 2 weeks after surgery w/no issues.
I would lay off weights, situps, and anything that might cause a strain in the gut until the doc gives you the all clear. The good thing is that recovery is temporary and will be over before you know it. Good luck on your journey.
