Hi Weber, and welcome!  Start preparing for the liver - reducing preop diet and try to find a protein shake/s that you like.  Some people say that their tastes change after the op, so having two or three possibles is better than relying on one. lol.  Comfortable, easy to get on and off clothing is good, nothing tight around the middle.  Don't buy anything new, you won't be in them long!  You may want to get in some liquid pain meds, although I didn't use any once I was home, and come chewable multi vitamins.  Some exercise would be good.  Best of luck!!

Lots of praying and research!

As the old saying goes "measure twice, cut once"!  Look into ALL the surgery options, bands to the DS, then research them some more.  Do it till you find the option that you feel would be the best for you!  Nobody has to live with the results of your choice but you.

Keep us posted and if you have any questions ask.  Only stupid question is the one not asked!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Welcome Weber.  Everyone above has given the basics and essentials you will need.  Don't fall into the "this is the last time I'll be able to eat this for a while" syndrom.  The excercise is important because you will not be able to do more than walking for excercise for quit some time.  Get used to drinking water.  I can only speak for myself, but my surgery was 200% easier than I invisioned.  I was literally afraid of dying on the table.  Didn't happen, I was in excellent care.  So, as easy as it is for me to say it, try not to worry about the surgery.  I'd also look into a good support group.  The doctors can tell you the right things.  But hearing it from people who have been trough it seems to hit home quicker.  Water, Calcium citrate, multivitimins, protein, all the essentials for the first few months.  Again, keep us posted, we'll help all we can.

Weber after going through this from a spouses point of view I can say that all the info/advice sounds like what they told my wife and I. However I would urge you if you are married to find a way that your spouse can be a part of the team. You must go through this journey together so that it dose not tear you apart. It can be done, make sure you plan appointments when your spouse can go along, ask them to help you shop, listen to there fears and share yours. Lastly and most importantly tell them your dreams and hopes for you both after surgery. All these things will make this a building process for you both. You will come out the other side just fine, make sure you follow the doc's orders though or you just may be miserable for awhile. You are looking for answers early and that is a great sign. Good luck and have a great journey. Feel free to drop a line whenever.

All of the above is great advice.  For me.. I felt that the sooner I began living the lifestyle I thought I would have after surgery.. the easier it would be post-op.  Well, you really can't understand what life is like after surgery.. at least for the first few weeks.  I had lots of gas and bloating. The incisions didn't bother me at all. I didn't even need pain meds once I got home.  The first month was a pain in the ass.... but I would do it again to get where I am now. Good Luck.
