Non-Scale Victories - just a few weeks post RNY

So last evening, my wife and I went to the mall, as she needed to pick up something.  While she headed her way, she suggested I go to the Men's section and pick up a few new shirts as because of my weight loss, my dress shirts are starting to look too big.

For years, I've worn an 18 1/2 or 2XX shirt.  Last night, I was able to buy 17 or XL.  I only bought a few as I am just a few weeks post RNY and know I am going to loose a lot more.

Prior to surgery, my morning/fasting blood sugar was running above 130.  My Dr was ready to put me on Oral Diabetes medication.  Since surgery, my sugar has consistenly been below 105!

Prior to surgery, I was taking 3 different blood pressure meds, 2 in the am and 1 at night, and my diastolic pressure (the lower number) was consistenly over 90, which is high.  The Dr was considering changing or adding to my meds.  Post surgery, I have cut out one of the am pills (with the Drs ok) and my pressure has consistenly been around 75.

Yes the scale is moving too!  I wish I would have had this procedure done years ago!  Thank God, I was able to have it now and am truly enjoying some immediate results!

It's great, isn't it? These "non-scale" victories are really what it is all about.

When I think about all of the positive changes it makes me slightly embarrassed that I get so frustrated when the little number on the scale doesn't move as much as I think it should.

Keep up the great work!

Congratulations on the non scale victory. Today at work.. my pants wouldn't stay up. I had to borrow a drill from the maintenance guy to put a new hole in my belt.

Also.. just a tip.. You can go broke keeping up the wardrobe after surgery.

Two words "Thrift Shop".
