Hey all,

Been awhile since I've posted thought I would update. I had my RNY last Tuesday. Ended up staying in the hospital until late friday night and had to get three units of blood due to me loosing 900cc of blood from internal bleeding. (it freaking sucked, I spent the whole day wednesday and part of thursday in bed. I was so weak and dizzy I couldnt even sit up straight in bed.

Anyway, Im home. Im doing pretty good other than my left side is still pretty sore, and I feel like death when I first wake up until the lortab kicks in. I would kill to sleep on my side or stomach again (always been a stomach sleeper) but it hurts like hell to sleep anyway but flat on my stomach.

Finding it hard to get my protien in but im working on it.

Glad you are home and doing better. B4 long you won't even remember the pain and the worst will be behind you. Good luck and we are here if you need us.

Sorry to hear you had complications, glad they worked out for you though.  The first 2 weeks post opp are tough, get through those and the rest will be a breeze.  Heck it wont be long and you won't have a stomach to wish you were sleeping on  LOL

I just wish I could stomach anything other than broth. Anything thicker than broth and I can only eat about 3 spoons and I feel full and bloated for 4 hours afterwards. Its not even worth it.

It took me five days after RNY before I could post too. But now, those immediate post op days are only a memory. Just focus on doing what your doc and Nut told you to do. And welcome to the losers bench!

I had my surgery this past Friday.. and am also finding it hard to get the protien drink down.
Although Optifast was not delicious.. I just gulped it down.. Since surgery I seem to be super sensitive to taste and smell.  I had a bad night last night.. finally was able to pass some gas.. and felt better. I thought the problem was solved.. but it seems again I get that full bloated feeling without sipping much at all.  a short walk usually sends met to the bathroom for a wet fart and the pain is relieved.  I'm told this is all pretty typical

I am sorry to hear about your complications.  Hang in there.  I'm two weeks out and just starting to eat/drink a little more without the bloated feeling.  I'm back to work but still not making a full day.  Just got to rebuild the strength and energy.

The weight is falling off!

So, hang tough...the worst is behind you...that includes the wet farts... and those will always be behind you I understand.

Be well!
