New to site. Need advice for losing weight.
I am currently around 265 and am 5' 9". Most of my weight is in my belly and it is not a "beer gut" because I don't really drink any beer. I do not want the surgery, I would like to lose it naturally. I am currently out of work, so buying "healthy food" is really tight. And I don't want to buy nothing but fruit and veggies (which are cheap) and eat like a rabbit! How can you eat like a "man" and stil be able to lose weight? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
thanks for your reply to my post I am not interested inWSL I will limit my food. I do have a very limited diet which consists of Rice, Hot Dogs,Pasta I mostly drink tap water or Sparkling water from Super Stop & Shop Supermarket. Or what ever I get from a Food Pantry. I do go out for walks but I should do More walks thou. Most of my walks presently are out to my Truck then from the Truck either to appointments or Church or Shopping when it is necessary.
I have been thinking about your post all week. I remember the feeling of hopelessness. I was lucky enough to have WLS to give me a head start on my eating problems. WLS starts our weight loss, but eventually we all hit a stall and realize that we have to change our habits and our relationship with food to continue on the path of good health.
If I would have been able to make the changes pre-surgery that I have post-surgery I may have been able to lose quite a bit of weight. My advice to you is to make many small changes, little by little you can be successfull if you don't overwhelm yourself.
Above I talked about eating protein first. Remember protein is in meat, eggs, beans, nuts, dairy and soy products. Many of those are inexpensive.
The most important part of my new lifestyle is keeping my metabolism burning at full speed. The key to that is keeping my body fed and exercised. I eat every 3-4 hours. To be able to eat that often and still lose weight I have to be eating the right foods and the right portions. A portion of protein/meat should be 4 ounces, vegetables - 1 cup and starch (potatoes, rice) 1/2 cup.
The first thing you need to do is decide that you need to do something for yourself. Then do one thing different every week to be healthier. Add a walk in the morning or evening and little by little start eating smarter.
It's not easy getting thin or staying thin, but it is worth all the struggles.
