My tool is now two inches thick!! (pic inside)

I have now completed one year of measuring and recording my daily food and nutrition.  Its 365 plus pages are nearly two inches thick.

Although my RNY is the most significant tool in my weight loss journey, I have to say that my food journal is the next most important tool.

This notebook includes a record of virtually every bit of food that I ate from April 11, 2009 to April 11, 2010.  The only time I did not log were the few days I was in the hospital for my RNY.
As you can see from the graph below, it was the week that I gained the most at one time. (Mostly I.V. fluids probably)

My apologies to those who believe that printing 365 days of food is a waste of paper. But my nutritionist wanted something I could carry to her and show her.

This journal kept me honest about my eating. It tells me how much protein, carbs, fats and nutrients I ingest each day.
In addition, if I hit a slow period of weight loss, I can either go back and see if I am doing something wrong like eating too many carbs, or I can be confident that I am doing what my doctor and nutritionist want me to do. It reduces my doubts and anxiety along the path of my journey.

Now it's time to start a new journal for another year.

I am very proud of you, What your doing is a inspiration and I am glad to see another person keeping a food  journal. I have been doing that since my decision to have a RNY , it is a great way to see where you have been and where you can go . A great motivator ! Keep up the wonderful work.

Congratulations and you are doing good work.  Just recycle the paper and don't worry about it.  You know that I've been impressed with your dedication ever since you started posting here.  I wonder if your contributions to the Men's Forum are a third tool that you've used in your post-op recovery,
