Two week diet

I was told I needed 5 days Liqid diet.  My surgery is on the 12th, but I started today to get a jump on it.  I am 26lbs down before this liquid nightmare started.  I am not sure I can do it.  I get to feeling desperate because I am hungry.  I feel like a crackhead looking for a rock.  And I can have any liquid I want.

I am having second thoughts about the entire RNY surgery because what if I slip up and eat something after the surgery and injure myself by not waiting enough time.  What makes it worse is its only the first day.

I think we all may have felt that initially during the liquid diet phase.  It's not easy, i'm not even gonna sugar coat it.  But, please believe me when i tell you, it's well WELL worth it in the long run.  You can do it, it's mind over matter.

Regarding eating after the surgery, trust me, the first couple of days eating will be the LAST thing on your mind.  After the 1st week you may get a little antsy and ready to move on to mushy foods, but again, stick to it until the doctor tells you to move on, it's well worth the wait, trust me.  From a size 54 pants down to a size 32.....i'm here to tell you.....i would do it all over again a  million times.  Hang in there.

I know how you feel, I had horrible second thoughts about the surgery had it 10 Feb and am down 50 pounds since and have not felt this good in years.  I lost all urge to eat, learning to differentiate between "Head Hunger" and real hunger is still a challenge, beautiful thing now is if I feel hungry, I can eat a handful of nuts or drink a half glass of milk and feel fine afterwards.

As for hurting yourself, your body will do a great job of telling you when you have screwed up,   Just go slow, chew chew chew and listen to your body.

As for the crack analogy, you are dead on, food is an addiction, I still feel the urge and or sense of loss when I cant eat a giant baked potatoe with a tbone and 3 dinner rolls, you must come to the acceptance that those days are behind you, Im a little over 2 months out and can eat pretty much anything, but choose to stick to the healthy things that I know go down well. Have completly lost my taste for sweets, breads.

Someone wrote here, We used to Live to Eat, now we just Eat to Live,  Awesome perspective!

Your feelings are normal, we all had em, but am sure you didnt get to this point on a whim,

Best of luck to you
