I read most of the story.  What I will say is if my medical insurance runs out (lifetime benifits)...I will look to Asia for any heart surgery...Heart bypass US  $125,000. VS Singapore  $25,000.  You do the number cruching and see where it leads.

Like Brian only if I ever have to; would I go out of the country for any major surgery.  Was talking with GF this AM regarding going to Mexico for plastics.  While it may be less expensive initially there is no after care close by.  I'll keeping saving my nickles and dimes and BUY AMERICAN!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I'm working pretty stinking hard at getting healthy and staying healthy right now. If government run healthcare looks anything like government run housing, and there's no logical reason to believe that there won't be a huge resemblance, then I want as little to do with health care providers as possible during the remainder of my life. I can forsee myself puting #4 buck through the roof of my mouth at some point in time as opposed to trying to survive on whatever pitiful amount of care Big Brother might choose to deem neccessary for me. In the free market a dead body represents lost revenue. In a govt run system a dead body represents a cost savings.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

I can't imagine having the doc who did my surgery 72-hundred miles away. Right now he's more than an hour away and at times that was even unsettling.

I dont think Id want to go to Mexico, but I have no problem flying to India for an expensive opperation. In my mind im flying to india for the dr, instead of the indian dr flying to the US. Everything Ive read says the US medical tourists get top notch hospitals there PLUS 24 hour 1 on 1 nurse

I get so sick of these anti-international posts.  American health care is garbage.

Many, many people have no choice but to go outside of the country and assume any risk that may involve.  U.S. prices are a disgrace to say the least.  There are many qualified surgeons all over the world, and yes , even Mexico.  All that is accomplished by buying American when it comes to surgery is that you just help a doc buy his fourth vacation home and his seventh benz.
Do your research and don't overpay or over risk.  The internet makes this a very simple task to acheive.  My surgery will be in Mexico in the end I'm sure because my insurance is crap and I'm not made of money.  I will pay less than $7,500 and acheive the same results as anyone who stayed in the states and payed almost three times as much.
As Americans we are led to beleive that our country is the only one with suitable care for medical procedures and that is simply not true. Period.
