5DPTest for Sugar Addicts

I am 2 years out and I've been at (or under) my initial goal weight of 205 for over a year now. I've been tremendously blessed by this surgery and the experience overall.

My post today involves me completing the 5 Day Pouch Test last week. It was the first time I've done it and for those that aren't familiar, it's basically a 5-day plan that a fellow post-op came up with to help us out when we need it.

The simplicity of the diet plan is genius. At first, I thought it looked too simple to actually work. I thought I had it all figured out and never thought it would really benefit me in any way. You see, my issue was not with weight at this time, it's been with carbs.

I've become a carb and sugar addict! I've found myself giving in to old habits and eating chocolate to my heart's content. Thankfully I haven't gained any weight back from it yet but I know sooner or later it will catch up to me.

What this plan did for me was that I feel like I have regained control over Peanut M&M's and the like! I've been able to get that feeling of being in the driver's seat when it comes to snacking and what not. I never realized how much control sugar and simple-carbs can have over you but this plan really helped me out a lot.

Of course, I realize I'm only 3 days out but I already have been able to say no to many tempting offers of food I would have not hesitated to help myself to before. And as an added bonus, I lost about 7 pounds and feel really good. It wasn't as bad as I imagined it and once you make it past the second day it gets easier and easier.

For those of you that haven't tried it yet and want a recharge in your surgical tool or you need to get back on track or maybe you want to just drop a few stubborn pounds, I would definitely recommend this.

Glad that you grabbed back a little control. Way to go. What is the layout of this plan?

I know what you mean about carbs.  Ever since about 6 weeks after surgery, I have been fighting hunger.   I keep telling the NUT and she doesn't believe me, saying it's "head hunger".   Well I was in a major stall, gaining and losing the same damn lb over and over again for about a month, so I decided to do the Atkins thing.   Two things happened.   I started losing again, and my hunger stopped dead in it's tracks!   It seems that the minute I eat some carbs, whether they are simple or complex, doesn't seem to matter, I get hungry, and stay that way all day.   I also would like to know about this 5 day pouch test.  I have heard it referenced quite a bit, but have no knowledge of what it entails.  If  you could post an explanation, that would really help.
Thanks

Can you either provide us with this five day pouch plan or a link to it?

Basically you do two days of liquids only; protein shakes, soups and what not. Cream of chicken is okay with small chunks. I had a small cup of low-fat plain yogurt.

Then on the last three days you start building up to full proteins starting with the softer stuff on day 3 like tuna, tofu, eggs. Day 4 you could add in ground meats and various fresh seafood. And then day 5 would include all proteins.

The main thing is no carbs but you can eat till you're full so at least you don't go hungry. It says that an orange is okay once a day if you have to have something sweet. By day 3 I had to eat an apple too so I could get some fiber in.
