Lost 31 pounds after 2 weeks, gained 4 and lost 5... So at 4 weeks a total weight loss of 32 pounds.  To stall in week 3 was very frustrating, but to actually put on weight when taking in less than 500 calories a day seems unbelievable!

Start 306, now 274, target 210.

Finished my first tub of protein shake Friday, Saturday tried Protein Bar shake powder ( Lion Bar flavour)  Lovely taste and texture, possibly a little thick.  Sat in my stomach like lead, vomited furiously about an hour later after two sips of water.  I will try the shake again in a week, but will mix it half strength.  Has anyone else had problems with very thick protein shakes?

Have a good week.

With a VSG you should be able to eat real food and there is really not a need to use protein shakes.  The protein issue is more of a concern for those with a bypass like the RNY.  Remember your stomach is still inflamed from the procedure and once the swelling goes down you will be able to eat small meals.  Try to think the amount of food a 5 or 6 year old would eat.  I had the VSG and am 3 years post-op.  While everyone is different try hard a loose weight now, as I stopped the weight loss 8 months out!  You simply must exercise ALOT.  Good Luck

I agree that I won't need shakes once I get onto a normal diet.  I've just gone back to the pureed stage as I have thrown up every soft-lump meal that I've had since Sunday.  The protein shakes give me a 30-40 grms of protein head start a day so that I can concentrate on fluids, which is still a struggle.  I am so looking forward to some real food!

Try "double milk"  mix  a half gallon (sorry for American Measurments) with 1 cup of powdered milk. Shake and let sit overnight.  This increases the nutrient value of the milk and has little effect on the taste of the milk. Remember when in doubt about food try soup.  Try small pieces of hard cheese, or a scrambled egg, then peanut butter on toast, or browned ground (minced) meat cooked loosely like you would prepare taco filling but without the strong seasoning.  Also try a small amount of mashed potato, finely sliced ham and polenta.

Doing well, thanks.  42 pounds lost.  Now eating protein bars and solid meat and eggs.  The protein milk was a great tip.
