I'm back and feeling better

I've been floating around a couple other forums but miss the strength of the Men's Forum.  I only got positive feedback on the other forums but it was mostly from women.  There's nothing inherently bad about that, but the "feel" of the discussions was different.  I can't quite describe it.  I guess they weren't as frank as we are.

I'm also feeling better because I got a clean bill of health as far as my heart tests went.  I saw my primary doc for a follow-uo today and he's surprised that my heart remains so good despite my weight.  I am slowly losing weight.

I also saw my psychiatrist today.  I see him quarterly and this was a regular scheduled visit.  I told him about a time I became quite anxious and had a brief panic attack in Jan.  I diffused that situation.  I told him that I find myself feeling OK and that it's been a while since I actually felt good.  He understood what I was talking about and gave me a new prescription to slightly increase my dosage of antidepressants.  I know that my mental condition gets worse with age and that I will need to have my meds monitored.  I also know that I can expect further adjustments in meds with time.  That's why it's important for me to see him for pharmacology.  My condition is somewhat controlled with meds.  I can do normal daily activities but I can't work.  I can't multitask.  But, I do accept myself as I am.  I'm hoping that I will get back to where I actually like myself with the change in meds.  That may take about 2-4 wks based on past experience.

I generally enjoy the feedback I get here.  It does help me.  I guess I should clarify by saying that I have been posting here fairly regularly but that I slowly realized that my view of the world was a little skewed by my illness. really off base.  I'm always glad to see Hercules post.  I've been talking to him on this site since he was pre-op.  He's one person that I've seen be inquisitive, follow the program, and be active here.  I know there are several others of you that act similarly.

I like having recent post-ops help newbies primarily because they have the most to offer them and the most vivid memories of their early post-op steps.  But then I like seeing men mature in their post-op behavior and adjust to life with their new bodies and new attitudes.  It's a wild tale of people with so much energy who have just been plodding through life burdened by their weight.  Suddenly they become free to really enjoy life.  This usually invoves more interaction with their families.

Finally, we get the less frequent posts from men whose lives have been transformed because of the WLS.  They usually don't post here often, but I do thank them when they post and ask them to try to post at least once a month.  They are a tremendous source of inspiration for the other men.  I suggest that you look up their Latest Posts and save what appears in a special file.  There are times when looking over their posts may be helpful and available if they don't post often.

 Welcome back.
As a cross eyed penguin with nothing between the ears and the shrinks and kids gave up on me yrs ago I think you need to get drunk, get a tat and get screwed.  Your choice as to the order.
Suggest you spend a week of it as its gets tougher as we get older.

LOL  LOL  LOL  Your posts  are very informative and much appreciated
