Pray for post-ops who have given up

I know at least one man who used to post here fairly regularly and he's given up his quest to lose weight.  I want to mention that, like me, he's manic-depressive.  However, he continues to work to try to pay his bills and is on several meds.  My wife told me that she would have divorced me if we had kids.  Well, this guy has kids and his wife did divorce him to keep the kids away from him and his mood changes.  It's obvious that there's a lot of love between him and his kids and affection between him and his wife.

I've thought about suicide in the past but have never attempted it.  He has attempted suicide a few times including at least once in the last few years.   We both had RNY surgery in 2000 and I continue to try to lose weight.  He recently told me that he has regained all of his lost weight.  I try to encourage him.  I'm just asking for your prayers.  I know there must be others who are trying but are just overcome by their personal demons.  I keep on hearing about how anything is possible if you keep a positive attitude but I say things can be dam tough if you don't have one.

I wish him the best of luck, and I sincerely hope he finds some peace.

Take Care & Good Luck,
Jason

Don't give up, get a revision, I say ..  !

Has he looked into the possibility of a revision to DS?   If he is on disability due to his Bipolar, DS is now covered by Medicare ..   I read sometime back of a patient that was refused WLS by s.s. b/c they were bipolar (there supposedly is a WLS exclusion for anyone with a mental illness - GRRRRRR, if true   ) ..

I can only say for all Bipolars that it is SO important they stay on their meds ..   I have a client now that went off her meds several times in the past, and she was a completely different person off them than on ..    She also tried to commit suicide a few months ago via an anti-depressant meds O.D. while she was off her Bipolar stuff.      The docs said if her b/f hadn't come home just as she had a seizure and called an ambulance for her, she would not have made it.

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

My OH friend is not on disability.  He simply can't afford to go have another WLS.  As far as I know, he's still under court order to pay child support.  He's holding 2 part-time jobs and trying to hang onto his house.

I worked for the Fed before I filed for disability.  I was covered by the old CRS (Civil Service Retirement) and did not convert to FERS.  Thank god because I would not have qualified for total disability under FERS and probably couldn't get it due to the current insurance qualifications.  CRS allowed for an occupational disability that paid the same as total disability but doesn't have the tax advantages nor Medicare after 29 mos.  But, I stayed on my Fed med health ins ( I pay 25% and Fed pays 75% of premium just like a Fed worker).  I can't work as a customer service worker/ claims examiner.  Since then my condition has steadily become worse.  I know that I will never allow myself to go without my meds--I.ve become more depressed over the years and have had to have increased dosages of antidepressants.  I fear how depressed I'd become if I didn't have them.  My manic episodes were never very high, but they were inevitably followed by increasingly deep depressions.

My friend is aware of his problems.  I simply don't know how he can keep going from day to day.
