Am I OK so far?
Day five after my sleeve. Farting and belching I expected, but I'm producing carbonated urine!! A very strange sensation.
At the moment I'm drinking 2 - 3 pints of warm semi-skimmed milk a day. My abdomen becomes very painful if I drink cold water. Have urinated twice this morning and have been off the drip for 2 days, so I don't think I'm dehydrated.
Had two tablespoonfuls of yogurt for supper yesterday, had half a cup of lamb broth for breakfast this morning, will have more broth for lunch and am planning more yogurt for supper. Will start trying protein shakes tomorrow.
Will be on liquids only for the next nine days. I have shakes and clear protein drinks and will be buying some tinned soups tonight, so any advice would be welcomed!

ok lactose intolerance doesn't mean you can't drink milk, it means that once you drink it, it causes gas.
I can drik milk all day long, but it causes terrible gas and bloating.....(i've been Lactose intolerant since I was 11).
Whey prtotein shakes can cause gas for the same reason, also you might be sensitive to artificial sweetners. Avoid any artificial sweetner with an -itol at the end of it. Like malitol. Those types of sweetners (sugar alcohols) can cause gas.
It might be a hit and miss type thing, trying to find what is causing the gas.
In addition, you might want to try some simethicone, like gas X. It should help relieve the gas in your stomach.

Wait a minute, Paul .. "carbonated urine"??? that doesn't sound cool .. if it is frothy, that is not normal and can be sign of a bladder infection, other UTI, deyhdration, or high b.s. if diabetic
Did you tell your surgeon about this?

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )
I know frothy can mean protein in the urine. I meant gas bubbles in the urine. Blood sugars are running a little high, but I was told the range to maintain until I can take all my medication again. Problem is now gone day 6 post op. Apparently this is a very rare way of getting rid of laprascopic gasses! Thanks for the concern.
Someone mentioned lactose intolerance. I had that problem for 9 mos post-op. My surgeon was in favor of using protein shakes so I used soy powder based shakes. That was 10 years ago and they tasted bad and were a bit gritty. That's when I started using the DaVinciGourmet Sugar Free and Fat Free ( SF/FF) syrups to flavor my shakes. It helped a bit with the flavor. Becoming lactose tolerant was a relief. While I was lactose intolerant, lactaid didn't work for me.
