A question for the family men...
Hey guys,
My first time posting on the men's forum...didn't even realize there was one until earlier this evening.
I have a somewhat morbid, hopefully unneccesary question, but one I am concerned about, and one I think the family men here will understand.
I am going to have the sleeve done in Mexico in April. I have done my research over the last two years, and trust the doc and his skills...but anything can happen...
My life insurance will not cover me for non covered procedures, and since I am self-pay....well, if the absolute worst happens, my wife and kids will be in deep....
Does anyone know if there is any, ANY incidental or short-term / high risk life insurance carriers out there that I can purchase a short-term policy from?
Thanks to any *****spond....

Hmmm I've never heard of such a creature (been a practicing civil lawyer for 17+ years) ..
If it does exist, I bet the premium would be very expensive, given that the co. would basically be specifically insuring against a high risk .. I would liken it almost to selling a policy to the Apollo 11 astronauts just before their pioneering moonshot ..
I DO highly recommend that pre-ops have their Will updated, durable health care and non-health care Powers of Attorney (and, if desired, a Living Will) executed before surgery .. Since you are going to have the procedure in Mexico, you might want to check with a Mexican atty to make sure that Mexican health care providers would honor a U.S. POA and/or Living Will, or what you need to do to make same legal there ..
Good luck on your surgery ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
HW/461 LW/251 GW/189 CW/274 (yep, a DS semi-failure - it happens :-( )
As an Insurance Agent I can tell you it is possible to insure anything, but the price of the insurance follows the risk. You would probably have to pay 50% - 75% of the benefit amount. Surely it wouldn't be worth it.
I have a hard time believing that Life insurance would not pay a benefit if you pass away in surgery, even suicide is covered after 2 years.
