Protein

I posted this also on the main board.

I have been drinking various protein powders for 30 years. I'm not really bias on any. Some taste better then others. But I really don't have an issue with any.

But my question is, for the pre-op and post-op AND in general, do we want to drink the protein drinks/powders that have some carbs in in them?

I'm figuring that if these are gonna be some kinda of meal replacement, I would think yes, because I'm gonna need some carbs for energy.

Well, you get energy from protein, too. Protein counts as calories in the long haul. My thinking has been that if I can stick to the low carb protein drinks, I can have more carbs with other meals.

If you are talking about the two week pre-op.. My surgeon encouraged as few carbs as possible. However since I am continuing to keep the carbs low, I look for low or no carb protein drinks. I'd rather get my carbs from veggies or whole grains.
