Five years today -- couldn't be happier!
Chad,
Yeah, it's easy to get thrilled with the weight loss and want to share what you're going through at any given moment...and hard to avoid becoming a self-proclaimed expert. There are guys on the board who have been around a lot longer than me, plus some I recognize who were about the same time as me. Seek them out and ask them their stories. It'll be a great motivator.
For example, there's a guy I saw here the other day (name not mentioned to protect the innocent) who was so upset with himself because of ice cream. He broke down some time after surgery and bought himself some Ben & Jerry's or something like that. He was going through the emotions of should he eat it or should he throw it out. He threw it in the trash can, but later fished it out of the trash. He was ready to eat it, but knew he shouldn't--so he peed into the ice cream container and threw it back in the trash.
Humorous story, but it also speaks about the enormous obstacles us fat boys face. Like they say, an alcoholic can live without booze, a druggie can go cold turkey...but us food addicts??? We can't go without food.
Don't let the other guys' posts get you down. My way of thinking is that each of us is on an individual journey and what works for one may not work for another, but the support of other guys on the journey makes it easier for all.
Stick with it, Chad. Let me know if I can ever help you out.
