Anyone else stop going to the doctor?
I guess the main reason to see a follow-up doc, even if not having any kind of complications, is to make sure the correct blood level checks are ordered for you, and interpreted properly.
Thing is, your own surgeon's office should be order to order them and interpret the results for you. Even if you don't see a doc, there is a lab online that will use their doc to order the tests for you that you request, and then you go to LabCorp to actually get the draws done. It's not cheap, though. Experienced RNYers on here (esp. those of your own surgeon) should be able to help you as to whether the results show you are O.K. and on track, or need to "tweak" something ..
btw, congrats on almost making it to the Double Century Club .. ! Somebody get that man a 2CC card!

You might check with you local hospitals to see if they do low cost blood screening. We have a couple here and they will do typical screening for 25 or 30 bucks. Granted it is not as through and what my surgeon does but it will get a lot of the major stuff. If they have a web site check it. The local ones here list it on theirs. They often have health fairs off site and will do it then and mail the results.

Poor man's test: You can get your hemocrit (one little test in the iron panel) for free by simply donating blood. Of course if you are too low, they won't draw and then you will know to up your iron)
I would ask around where you can get some other tests for reduced cost. Some will drop it by 90% if you are self pay. So ask, what do you charge for self pay? Iron and B12 are two very important tests.
