I'm now pledging my abstinence from addicting food
It's just after 1:00am on the East Coast and since it's now Mon 02-15-10, I'm pledging my abstinence from my addicting foods for today. Since I'm still awake, I was already thinking about playing mental games as to when the new day begins. I can say that it starts at daybreak and allow myself just a little more junk. However, I got the inspiration to declare my abstinence now.
Although I do not plan on following the 12 steps of OA, I can see how using the first
steps can help me:
1 I admitted that I am powerless over my addictive foods and that my life has become unmanageable.
2 I came to believe that a power greater than myself could restore me to sanity.
3 I made a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of God as I understand him.
It's easy for me to want help managing my food compulsion but I don't want to relinquish control over my life to God. However, I know that if I do let go and let God lead me that my life is much simpler.
So, my journery on the road of abstinence from my addicting food begins now. Bob
