Did you prove the cynics wrong?
You've probably gone through it yourself.. Acquaintances and family members saying that you look good now and should stop losing weight. When I tell them that I need to lose 55 more... some say, "I don't see where you'll find another 55 to lose!"
Two questions:
Have any of you "found" that extra weight that others said you didn't even have to lose?
And:
Have any of you guys reached your "healthy" weight listed on a BMI chart.. and did you look emaciated?
P.S.
I weigh 244 pounds.. Any BMI chart I see says a man who is six feet, one inch tall should weigh between 174 and 189 to be considered healthy. (and I am not a muscleman like Arnold Schwarzenegger)
My body fat percentage is about 25 percent. Experts say a BF% between 11 and 22 is healthy for someone my age.
My waist is 46 inches. Doctors say men who's waists are 40 inches and larger are at higher risk for a heart attack.

Herc,
Your family and friends are seeing you differently than you see yourself right now. I remember mine saying the same things when I was about 7 months post. ( you look sick, you don't need to lose anymore weight, do you have cancer?) I didn't notice until I was over a year post and looked at pictures of me back then, I did look sick. Our bodies are starving and our skin looks pale and gaunt, not to us (because we are only looking at our size) but to others. They see weight melting off of us and are afraid we won't be able to stop it.
Tell them that it is part of the process (looking sickly) and that when your body reaches it's ideal weight that it will start healing itself and you will look healthier. I don't know what the BMI chart says for my height and weight, but I got down to 2 pounds less than my High School weight and found it to be to light. I am 5 pounds heavier than when I graduated and am happy there my BMI is around 20.
Ride the ride and let it take you to the end.
