It's been a long time since I have been on this forum. I had my RNY May 2007. At my upper weight I weighed 505. Within a year I had dropped down to 210, almost 300 pounds lost through this new lifestyle. Exercising and eating like I was supposed to I maintained my weight within 5 to 10 pounds of this new weight. Now since the holidays I have gained more and I am now at 265. I got lazy. Tonight I am making the commitment to go back to the ways that worked to give me my new life. I refuse to go back to the old life of not being able to walk 30 yards without breathing heavy, not being able to buy my clothes at Walmart if I want to. I guess this post is more for me than you guys, maybe a way to make this more of  commitment by writing it down. Anyway, today is it.......

Sorry to hear about your weight gain. I hope your post serves as a reminder to me that I need to keep doing all the things you mentioned to make my WLS work. Good luck on your renewed commitment.

I/m glad to hear about your initial weight loss.  Have you actually gone from 210 to 265 since the holidays?  That sounds extreme and may be indicitive of a medical problem.  I had a staple line disruption and had to have an RNY revision.  If you know that your problem is due to poor eating habits or lack of exercise, then you know what you have to do to lose weight.  Be watchful of between meal snacks since the WLS doesn't do anything to solve that problem.

Please continue to post here and tell us of your progress.

Nope, not all since the holidays, but about 15 to 18 pounds of it. I expected a little gain, and I guess I'm around the 20 percent factor they all describe that comes back. You are right, time to start over and get back on the wagon. I know what I need to do and will be doing it. At least I don't have 300 to lose like I did :)
