Fats or carbs.. What's worse for RNY?

I never really had problems with sweets or high carb snacks. I could take them or leave them.  However, I love fatty foods.   Especially meats like beef and pork.

I had RNY in September.  My question is... Are carbs worse for me than fatty meats? Or does my pouch tend NOT to absorb the fat?

My opinion is simple carbs are worse.

My diet has consisted of alot more fat than carbs and I've dropped alot of weight thus far.

I eat beef and pork tenderlion serveral time a week.  But mostly chicken and turkey.  I also eat alot of protein bars (Pure Protein).

Hope this helps.

Take Care & Good Luck,
Jason

I also think sweet carbs are worse. Fatty meats, while not ideal, still have protein, and still are bulky enough that you will fill up quickly. Simple carbs are easier to eat and eat and eat, and burn so fast that you're likely to be hungry again sooner... all without protein.

I would say that in general the carbs are worse.   Sticking to the protien will do you better in the long run.

Alot of this depends on where you are in your weight loss journey. At 0 to 9-12 months, I'd say they are equally bad.  But you still need carbs and some carbs are good, even simple carbs like milk. But as well, you don't want to be eating a ton of saturated fats that are bad for your heart. Keep in mind as well, a gram of carbs is 4 calories, 1 gram of fat is 9 calories As you get farther out, you have to get calories somewhere, you can only eat so much protein and you have to get a good mix of simple & complex carbs, as well as fat. I've found not enough fat, you have more constipation issues, not enough simple and complex carbs I'm sluggish and definitely can't make it through my workouts.

With that all being said though, I'm in a slightly different situation than the majority, as I was at goal weight at 6 months and seem to have flew right past that. So with being somewhat active, I'm taking in 2000 calories a day, with a good deal of fats, carbs and protein making that up. I can tell you, when my nut told me I was gonna need to start eating 100 + grams of protein and 150+ grams of carbs a day, I was scared to death. But really it was nothing to be scared of. And if it ever starts to put weight (other than the muscle weight I'm struggling to put on), I'm at a different place now. I know how to eat properly, I don't weight 300 lbs, so I can exercise to take a few lbs off.
