Have I hit a stall in WL already just 1 month out-Please Help !
Hi OH Fam!!
Im concerned that im not dropping as fast as I would like 2 or is it all in my head. My total weight has gone from Pre-Op 12/22/09 of 302 to Post-Op as of today 262. Im concerned because I thought close too 1 month post-op I would have dropped alot of more weight. I am eating right, going to the gym, taking vitamins and suppliments given to me by my doctor. In 1 month I was expecting to be down at least 60 pounds. Am I asking to much of myself or am I over thinking that I want loose what I set out as my goal weight of 155 pounds in 5 months? Do you usually loose in 5 months at least 60 to 100 pounds does the stall suppose to happen in the beggining? Im kinda getting worried that its going so slow when May comes I want have reached my goal in 5 months like some of you. If you share some thought or insight it would help me to stop worrying so much. Thank you family

First of all congratulations on your surgery. As for your "stall",,,
So many factors go into the rate of weight loss. I think losing 40 pounds in one month is fantastic. That's like ten pounds a week. I am 4 MONTHS post op, and I have lost 74 pounds. I am totally amazed.
You can't really compare yourself to others.
Just keep doing what your doing and following your nutritionists and doctor's instructions.. You'll get there.

At the end of my first month, I was down right around 35 pounds. However, I started out WAY bigger than you, and the bigger you are, the faster it **usually** falls. 60 pounds in a month would be a whole lot of weight - maybe more than would be safe or reasonable, especially with you only having been 302. 40 pounds in a month is a really strong number.
Also, don't compare yourself to others. You may have more or less muscle. You may have more or less water. You may have more or less metabolic issues. You may exercise more or less. The variables go on and on. If you start to get bummed about it, just ask yourself if you've ever managed to lose 40 pounds in a month before.

I am a lightweight like you. I started at 280 pre-op and lost 29 pounds the first month. I lost 70 pound over the first three months and then it took another three month to lose 15 more pounds and I am steady now just below 195.
You are doing fine and as a percentage of weight lost are ahead of schedule. Relax!!

I went from 282 on the day of surgery to 190 (goal) in six months and 10 days (you're right on track). You will hit stalls for a few weeks...but then watch out!! Your body releases more of the weight and you drop again. Keep doing the right thing...eat the right way...exercise...hard physical work...it will come off. Also remember that muscle weighs more than fat. You could be putting on muscle...
