Are we going to be on Facebook?

There's a big hubbub going on the Main Board.  It looks like info on OH is going to be linked to Facebook. I haven't seen any official emails from OH on this?  Does anyone know what this is all about?

Here is my hunch.  Women over there are over reacting.  I know that might surprise some but it happens sometimes.

I am an idiot and don't understand what the problem is.  I get that it will be linked to the social networking sites but wouldn't I have to click the link to post anything.  Surely, I would not want my facebook friends to see the dumb **** i post on here but really, will they see it?

I just clicked the facebook link on this thread.  Sure enough, if I were to continue, this thread would have been pasted on my facebook.  I would never post one but people with lots of crossover friends might have an issue with non OH people seeing what they post. 

I have to agree that people are really overacting.  I just had a convo with someone else on another board about this.  I mean, I can understand the concern, but only if a friend of a friend saw a post that some other OH member posted and tied it back to you........it's a long shot, but could happen.  I personally don't care because nothing i' m posting is that crucial to me.  My philosophy is just dont click the share link and move on about your normal business.  Those share links aren't unique to OH.  You can find them on other message boards, blogs, picture sharing sites, etc.  It's really not that serious.

I don't think people are over reacting...a lot of people use this site as a support group. It's one thing to talk to family and friends on FB, but they bring out all kinds of other more private issues here on OH that they normally wouldn't want to talk about with FB friends.

I have kept my profile private for years for the very reason that I didn't want people googling me and finding me on OH. It was my personal experience that I wanted to share with those that I wanted to share it with, and would have been mortified if someone took my pictures and posts and put them up on their face book account for the world to see.

We already ARE ..  according to our state's forum members ..   Many of the members have therefore gone private with their profiles and replaced their avatar pics with some other image ..   (while complaining to OH to change things back to the way they were) ...

  Seeing how Facebook is thinking about charging its members a monthly fee now, that may drive off a lot of Facebook use anyway in the near future, if that plan comes to fruition  ..   

 It seems OH is doing anything to make a $ these days ..   Note that we also now have hyperlinks inserted automatically onto certain words or phrases in our posts, that link to advertisers with related products or services ..  We also have pop-up videos and "surveys" when first signing onto the website and at certain other "opportune" times for OH and tis advertisers ..   

 (ahhh, I see Scottie me boy is back, btw  ..  we thought he'd left OH ..  )
