I've always wanted to do it.

I'm going to give it a go in 2010.

I know I should "run this one past the doc" before I begin but wanted to see if anyone here had some thoughts on fighting in the octagon...

I don't see why it would be a problem.  You are right though.  A doc's approval is probably the way to go.

I train MMA at Renzo Gracie Academy www.renzogracie.com and at Martial Maxx MMA http://www.martialmaxxmma.com and was back training four weeks after surgery.  It really is the secret to my weight loss.  Choosing a school where you'll be comfortable is really the most important part of training.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the replys Scott & ricco....

ricco, I might have alot of questions soon. Thanks for offering to answer them. WOW, sounds like you are training at the right place. It would be an honor to have a Gracie kick my ass (hopefully without breaking any of my bones)

Bedrock has a nice place that I believe I will be comfortable in. I already checked it out & felt comfortable with the trainers & they are big on letting you work at your own pace. I asked about a beginners class but everyone works together.

I've lifted weights for alot of years but this is a whole other ball of wax.

I'm can't wait to throw those Kettlebells around and work my core.

Learning Jiu Jitsu is what I'm excited about the most. Anyone can "Ground & Pound" but Jiu Jitsu is an art that I must learn. Sooooo cool. ...and the Gracies are the best.

Just went though my 1st MMA training session. I loved it. It's just as intense as I thought it would be. The gym was nice too. Full of nice, helpful people. I met alot of new friends and I am looking forward to my next session on Monday.

No questions for ya yet but I can say... "I didn't know a couple 15 lb kettel bells & a 10 LB medicine ball could work your core as good as it does."

I feel like a million bucks.
