Calorie Counting Update...
Thought I'd share...
Just got of the phone with the NUT. I explained to her everything I told you all in my previous post. She told me the following:
1) Don't calorie count. Atleast not until later down the road (maybe 6 months out)
2) Put a focus on protein, but include a little bit of vegetable and a little bit of a starch with each meal. Doing this six times a day will keep the metabolism going and help prevent stalls.
3) A meal should not exceed one cup of food by volume, as a general rule
4) Her suggestion was 3oz of meat, 2oz of a vegetable, and 1oz of a starch.
5) Walk whenever possible.
Take that for what it's worth. Every NUT is different, every surgeon is different. That was the advice I got.

Hi Jay-
You are a couple weeks ahead of me, but I wanted to let you know this message is generally consistent with the direction I've been give by my nutritionist for 5 weeks post surgery.
Like you I am getting most of my protein from milk but I do mix in powdered milk with the skim milk to give an extra boost of protein with a few less calories. It also gives me the chance to have something to drink during the day besides milk!
Best of luck!

Sound like good advice to me. Obviously just don't try to force a cup of food...I know I couldnt get anywhere near a cup down at that point.
