Brrr! Cold!

When I left work tonight, a cold wind was blowing. I mean real cold!  I weigh about two hundred pounds less than I did a year ago.. but I didn't really believe that all that fat was insulating me.  I haven't felt this cold since December 17th, 1989 while watching the Vikings-Browns game at Cleveland Municipal Stadium when the temps were in the single digits.  I guess I need to buy long underwear.

In 4 years so far, it really has not gotten better.  Even my hand, when I am on the computer, freezes after a bit just from using the mouse.  Underwear and big cozy sweat shirts are the way to go.

Thanks a lot Herc!  You hurt me with this post.  I am three weeks out from my panniculectomy and hernia repair and not healed yet.  You made me laugh too hard.

I live in west central Illinois.  Yesterday it was 6 outside with 30-50 mile per hour winds so the weather cut right through the walls of the house on the west side.  It was 62 on the exterior west wall but 72 in the center room of the house.

For the last three weeks I have been questioning how skinny people handle the cold.  I stopped and visited a friend of mine from high school.  Suzie is a lawyer for the states attorney's office.  She told me that she couldn't help me with that problem and that she would never be able to but that I had two things against me since losing all this weight.  The first is the loss of insulation the second is my ability to float is gone.  Sort of funny if you ask me.

Anyway, I have found that I have to bundle up pretty good now.  I wear a thick stocking cap, heavy coat and heavy gloves.  Oh and I have to wear the hood up on my coat.  I also have long underwear now and very thick socks.  I feel strange now, like an extra 50 lbs wouldn't hurt from Nov.-February.  Sort of like an animal fattening up for the winter.

Smile Herc, I firmly believe it is a good problem to have at this point in my life.

Read the fine print!

Warning!!  Losing large amounts of weight will cause you to FREEZE WHAT'S LEFT OF YOUR ASS OFF!!

Norma and I were glad we brought a blanket to the football game two weeks ago.  Kept it folded and sat on it.  Kept our deflated asses off the cold aluminum stadium seats!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

This is part of WLS.  Layer up.  I wear 3 layers up top and long johns double socks.  The only warm place for me is in the SUV.  Wifey has the temp at home at 65.  I bought apple scented candles for my office and have a warm cozy office.  I had a very cold experience many yrs ago. Sitting on a deer stand on a  mountain  with freezing rain a 30/30 marlin in one hand and a hand warmer in the other and I was lead to believe that It dont get no better than this. Sick for 2 weeks after that.
Good luck

The cold will not go away.  I'm 5 1/2 years post, in Wisconsin (-19) and on the ski patrol.  Underarmor coldgear either 2.0  or 3.0 and a fleece Windshear sweater will help.  My hands and feet are always cold, summer and winter.  I keep hoping after a while I will be back to normal but I guess we will be cold forever post WLS.

I bought some nice wool long johns that worked great at the slopes Thursday night when it was 1 degree.  I also got a skiing helmit and it kept my head really warm.  My hands and feet are still cold just like you said.  I'm going to look for some better socks.  There HAVE to be some better socks out there.

I must say though, that overall I am not as cold as I was last year.  Maybe I am used to it?

I have 2 space heaters at my desk.  One underneath trying to keep my feet warm,
and one right on top of the desk pointed at my hands trying to keep them warm enough that I can type.  I am constantly freezing and it's not even that cold here.

However last night I had to go do my laps in the pool.  The pool was nice and warm, but it was only 38 degrees outside.  I didn't know I could run that fast between the pool and the locker room.

Stay warm guys.

I wore a hooded sweatshirt at my desk job all day today. I think the boss was a bit miffed that I made him look like Ebenezer Scrooge who would begrudge his employees an extra lump of coal in the pot bellied stove.

All we have around here is ice grans no good powder
