Do you keep track of your sodium intake?

Since I take two different pills for high blood pressure, I have been also keeping an eye on my daily sodium intake.  Doctors say a man my age should keep my daily consumption at no more than 1500 mg per day.. Some docs even say 1300 or less. My wife brought home a turkey roast from Honey Baked Ham that has 1020 mg per three oz serving! That's 75 percent of my daily limit!  Most processed or restaurant foods are very high in sodium. So when I read posts here about people eating turkey pepperoni or other processed foods, I am careful to look up the nutrition information.

Do you have to take sodium content into your daily nutritional information.

I never have and never will add salt to my food.  I don't even touch the salt shaker.

I don't have issues with my BP.  To answer your question....Yes and No.  If I know my sodium intake has been high, I ensure I triple up on the water.  When I shop for food, sodium is one thing I do take a glance at.

it gets logged daily, and I glance at it, but I'm not trying to juggle that.  I have never had an issue with hypertension if anything my b.p. is usually a little low.

It's hard enough trying to juggle quantity vs. quality vs. calories vs. carbs vs. protein vs. fats
All balanced out with exercise.

Most of the time I shoot for 100-200 grams of protein
and somewhere between 1200-1500 calories
minimum of 1+ hour of exercise each day.

I personally try to take in quite a bit of sodium. I sweat very heavily when I excercise and lose about 1000MG-1400MG od sodium per hour of excercise. If I do not replace it at some point, I will have electrolyte embalance and that is no bueno... Especially leading up to a race, I season things pretty heavily with sodium, I know my response is NOT typical, but it's what works for me. Have an awesome day...
