Muscle Cramps
Keep in mind the carbs form sports drinks, they are loaded with sugars. Also if you want to save money try this...
To replace lost electrolytes.
Add 1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tbsp. sugar
mix with 1 liter of water
Don't skip any of the ingredients--the orange juice along with the added sugar may seem like too much sugar but it actually replaces lost potassium.
If you can get your hands on coconu****er use it instead of regular water, it gives you extra potassium.
This is a great drink and cheaper than buying stuff, I make it by the gallon. I have also put flavoring in it, from cherry to strawberry to lemonade, etc... You can buy just about any flavoring, I get sugar free.

A few things high in potassium...I keep a list in front of the computer...I post it about every 6 months; oranges, tomatoes, raisins, lima beans, bananas, yogurt, avocado, spinach. and broccoli. The three things I went with early post op were; a small amount of bananas througout the day, yogurt, and I would take frozen spinach (a small amount of water) and cook it in the microwave...add salt. Brian PS Also about 1 month out or so I would try a small amount of Wendy's Chili (add cheese). Just try a spoonfull when you start. I found the beef, tomatoes, bell peppers, and kidney beans worked togeather to give me a lift. PSS The first time you try beef, pork, lamb, or deer be at home...You never know how the pouch will handle some of that stuff the first few times...
Thanks for the info. I don't like chili, but I am craving it now. (in fact just asked wifey about when I could eat it about a couple hours ago.). She reminded me that due to my bleeding ulcer, I may not be allowed to eat anything with tomatos in it, due to the acidity of it. Will have to ask my NUT or Surgeon.
You, along with most everyone else that hears me say this, might think I am nuts but... Put peanut butter in your chili, not the entire batch, just put a scoop in your bowl. It is great flavor and drastically cuts the acidity.
But always check with your nut and or surgeon.
I would imagine that you will be able to eat more once you have the medication in you. I know that for me, I was double medicated one to control the acid and one to heal the damage caused by the ulcer. After 3-4 days I felt great and haven't looked back since.
