Seven days...

My surgery is in seven days... and I'm excited to begin the next chapter in my life!

I'm also scared.  I remember back in the summer I posted the fact that I wasn't nervous or apprehensive in the least... looking back on that post, I'm sure that was a freshman mistake on my part.

I'm sure I'm not alone, I suppose some of you felt the same way; entertaining the "What happens if something goes wrong?  I got a couple kids, a wife, a home, a career, etc., etc."  What the hell I am going to, what is my family going to do, if **** hits the fan?

Odds are everything will be fine, I know this.  In and out of surgery in an hour, out of the hospital in two days.  I have a great doctor at a great facility, it's just..... well, you know.

Thanks fellas, see ya on the bench in a week.

- A thinner Jay coming in 2010!

Take Care & Good Luck,
Jason

My surgery was on a Monday...Was worried the surgeon forgot how to do the surgery over the weekend.  Then a week or two after surgery you'll get buyers remorse..."What have I got myself into"!!  After that you should be fine.

Jay- You have a good Dr. in a good facility.  The fears are very common- Lord knows I had them.   I'm sure you already went for your PATS.  I didn't really think about the worse till during my PATS they asked 'IF something went wrong, do you want to donate organs?'.  Ask yourself one question- what is the bigger risk- having the surgery- or not having it?  If you honestly think that you can live a healthy, long life without the surgery- then maybe you should reconsider the surgery.  Most of us who decides to do this realize that if we could do it with out, we would have done it.

Anything can happen- no one will tell you otherwise, but the chances are slim.  Today, WLS surgery is no more dangerous then having your gallbladder removed.   I know the mind does play games- I even wrote letters to my two sons- just in case
You will love your midnight strolls around the ward- thats a lot of fun.  Buyers remorse?  Yup, mine was the 2nd night I was there- thinking - WTF did I do.  lol- but yes, that passes in time.

Keep the faith- and 2010 will be a interesting ride- so hold on and enjoy!

The past is the past and can never be changed, but the future is what ever you want it to be.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery.

Listen, I was scared as hell and I relied on my surgeon and the center.  I put it in their hands....If you have a good surgeon, believe me, they do this type of surgery all the freak'n time.  They know what they are doing.  I also knew that I was in good hands being in the hospital that ranked high in the nation.

Best wishes and please continue to update us on your progress.  LET THE COUNT DOWN BEGIN BROTHER!
