A little snack at the movies?

Since I started fitting into theater seats again, I have been seeing a lot more movies. And every time I walk into a theater, I smell that popcorn and consider trying a small box.  I never did, and glad I didn't. Read this:

‘Two Thumbs Down’ for Movie Theater Popcorn

New Lab Tests of Movie Theater Popcorn Show It’s Still the Godzilla of Snacks

WASHINGTON—It's hard to picture someone mindlessly ingesting three McDonald's Quarter Pounders with 12 pats of butter while watching a movie. But according to new laboratory analyses commissioned by the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest, that food is nutritionally comparable to what you’d find in a medium popcorn and soda combo at Regal, the country’s biggest movie theater chain: 1,610 calories and three days’ worth—60 grams—of saturated fat. (Nutrition aside, that combo costs $12—for raw ingredients that must cost Regal pennies.)

"Regal and AMC are our nominees for Best Supporting Actor in the Obesity Epidemic," said CSPI senior nutritionist Jayne Hurley. "Who expects about 1,500 calories and three days’ worth of heart-stopping fat in a popcorn and soda combo? That’s the saturated fat of a stick of butter and the calories of two sticks of butter. You might think you’re getting Bambi, but you’re really getting Godzilla."

Don't put any faith in what those ******** are saying.  They must be getting low on funds because when they are trying to raise money they make some ignorant ass announcement like this to shock people.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

When I go to the movies, I sneak in with a bottle of water, flavor of choice, and I take my almonds.  Just something to get me through till the previews are over.  It does not take much, I always have to take exta, kids, husband, you think they would have a heart attack if I did not share.

Just FYI, I have had popcorn about 6 months out of RNY.  I wanted to die, the pain was so bad.  It was stuck and stuck hard.  I have to say, it was the worst pain that I had.

Movie popcorn is my crack. Extra butter please and a big ol diet coke. That and 2 hours of silence from the wife, makes for a great day.

The strange thing about all of this is that the high calories in movie popcorn does not come from butter.  They use butter flavored corn syrup because it is so cheap and the farmers get a subsidy for growing corn.  I don't know if the saturated fat is in the corn syrup.  I do know they couldn't afford to actually use butter.  I saw a show on the science channel and they said that the most expensive part of movie popcorn is the container it comes int.

If it's not THE top-ranked evil "slider" food of WLSers, it's probably pretty close up there ..
