Feeling better from exercise

One of my regrets for not having WLS earlier is that I didn't do it in time to avoid developing deep vein thrombosis. It eventually turned into wounds that wouldn't heal until I had therapy and now must wear high pressure surgical knee high stockings every day. (and they aren't cheap).  I was so big, that the hose would roll up beneath my knees and further constrict circulation. Since I have lost weight, they are not so tight around my calves anymore.  But my left calf still tended to have a dark colored skin.  But yesterday, the skin looked almost normal.  The only thing I have been doing differently is walking faster and getting my heart rate up.

About a week ago, I began using a device to monitor my heart rate as I exercise.  I put a strap around my chest and it transmits my heart rate to a wris****ch.  I also have it set to beep when my heart rate falls below a certain number of beats per minute.

I started off at a minimum of 80 beats per minute, (BPM). Now it's on 90 BPM.  I'll move it up to 100 next week.

I like the device. It keeps me honest so I know that my daily walk reaches the aerobic level.

Right now I only do a mile each time. Twice daily if it's not raining. But I feel so much better.

Hercules, I've enjoyed reading your posts since you joined our forum.  I like your new photo.  Your joy emanates from your pic and your posts.  I see that you are already helping other men who are just starting their WLS journies.

Congratulations on the exercise. Like all things, the amount you do is relative to what you can do right now. Next month you will be telling us your walking "only" 5 miles. I would gladly take walking 1mile as it is I can only walk a few blocks before stopping.
