Shirt size help

It's been so long that I have purchased a dress shirt that I need some advice.  I have a 50 inch waist and a 16 inch neck.   Size charts say that someone with a 50 inch waist should wear a 3XL dress shirt.  But a 16 inch neck is only a Medium.  The 3X has a 20 inch neck. Since I want to wear a tie.. that won't do. 

Does anyone have any suggestions other than waiting for six months until my waist size catches up with my neck?

A fitted dress shirt uses your neck size and arm length.  I wear a 17.5 neck and 35 length sleeves.  Go to big and tall store or Macy's, Nordstrom, something like that.  They should be able to measure and fit you.

unless you get custom shirts, it will be difficult to get a good fitting shirt right now. My advice is to go a bit tight, because you're losing weight rapidly now.

Unfortunately, I think custom shirts will be your only option.  They get rather expensive, but if you can afford $90 - $150 per shirt, you'll get an amazing fit.  They can always be taken in when you lose more weight.

I just thought of something....big and tall stores sell button extenders. Perhaps you could buy smaller sizes use button extenders and then take them off when you shrink into the shirts.

I have a 48" waist, and wear a "roomy" 2X shirt ..   (well, less roomy now, since I regained about 35 lbs.   )
