145# gone! Now to keep it gone

Been awhile since I've posted.

I'm 7 months out, down 145#, exercise 2-5 days per week in the gym with cardio & weights.  I'm starting to realize I can eat almost anything (again) which is getting me nervous.  I'm also noticing that I easily can and usually do eat more than 4 oz now.

All my friends and my wife continue to tell me I still don't eat anything.  I tend to order small meals and or kids meals so sometimes I do almost finish them, which scares me.  Is this normal?

I'm still wanting to lose another 10lbs or so, and realize I still have a very minature version of my "spare tire" that doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so maybe I'd need plastic surgery if I really wanted that gone?  Feels wierd because with all the gym time I've been doing, I feel like I have some abs under there, lol, and I can easily roll my stomach up by curling my ab muscles.  Any input from guys with similar situations?  Did you get plastic surgery?  Major difference or?

Prior to surgery I started getting hooked on coffee and mainly starbucks cappuccino's.  I know this can't be good for my new stomach, but I have been averaging about 3-4 times per week stopping in for a large cappuccino.  I get lowfat or 2% milk but still add some sugar to it.  Will this erode my new stomach?

I saw some friends last week at a trade show that hadn't seen me in 1-2 years and didn't know about the fact I did the surgery, lol, wow, they had NO clue who I was, so with a few of them I really pulled some tricks on em.  Some knew about it and were still amazed at my transformation.

I'm determined to not get too far ahead and always realize I could easily end up gaining it all back over time, so now I think its more about maintaining and eating correctly (even more important).

I think that at 7 months post -op, coffee is not going to hurt your stomach.  My doc told me that you start out with a small pouch about the size of your thumb and it grows to about the size of your fist by the 6th month post-op in an RNY.  I should stay at that size.

You should note that Randall usually posts a daily column supposedly about what coffee he's drinking but there's usually a word of encouragement and words to live by in each column.  I suggest that you reqest Splenda with your coffee.  If you get a flavored coffee, ask if there is sugar in the syrup that the store uses.  You may be able to tolerate sugar, but if you are sensitive to sugar as most food addicts are, then you would want to stay away from it.  For example, if you get a caramel coffee at McDs and ask for Splenda, you'll get your Splenda but the syrup already has sugar in it.  If you do the same thing at Dunkin Donuts, the you can get it with sugar free syrup.

If you want flavored coffee at home, you can flavor it with sugar free & fat free DaVinciGourmet or Torani syrups.  I get most flavors of DaVinciGourmet syrups from www.netrition.com but I have my wife pick up some flavors at Sam's Club where they are about $3 cheaper per 750ml bottle.  I especially like the caramel, hazlenut, and Kahlua flavors with my coffee.  Just use care when ordering or buying because they are made in both sugared  and sugar free versions.

I was told I could only have 1 caffeinated drink per day and no sugar. So we dink decaf iced tea and use Splenda in everything.

I love that you didn't use the old "gone forever" line.  It makes me cringe...
