Need to start over!!!!
Hey Scott,
I don't know if I even understand what the DS is. So far, I have had success and happy with the surgery I chose, but if something happens and I gain a big portion of my weight back, which I am thriving NOT to do, I will certainly look at that. Thanks!

I feel for ya, guys .
I got on the scale this a.m. and was stunned to see that I am now up exactly 40 lbs. from my lowest weight, puttng me back into the M.O. BMI category .
I guess it just goes to show that, no matter what type of WLS we have, we are all prone to weight re-gain if we don'****ch things ..
Do you have a local support group there near you? It would be a good idea to start going, for the mutual support, if you both aren't already ..
If there's not one there, how about the two of you starting up one? You both have a great "partner" in a spouse who has also had WLS -- iIt should make the drive to get back on track a bit easier than when dealing with a family that has not had WLS and all the "temptations" that can be surrounding the WLSer right in their own home .
Good luck to both of ya ..

I continue to have problems with my food addiction, but I have learned a lot this year and lost 50 lbs from Jan to mid-May. I've stayed fairly even since then. Back in Jan, I posted on the Main Forum and asked if anyone knew of a book dealing with treating food addiction through behavioral modification. A woman who is a behavioral therapist suggested that I get the Beck Diet Solution. It is not a diet book--rather, it provides strategies for staying on a diet. And, we all have post-op diets. It is available in hardcover and/or workbook form. I got both of them and later learned that you only really need one. I suggest the hardcover for pre-ops and the workbook for post-ops ( the primary difference is with the amount of background in the hardcover). Regardless of which one you get, you will have to do written exercises. So, go get some spiral notebooks or other writing materials. You can get one book and share it with your wife. You need not both be working at the same pace as you go through the book.
Ideally, we'd follow all of the recommendations in the book, but some of us may not be able to. For example, she talks about planning meals a day in advance. My wife prepares our meals and she oftentimes doesn't know ahead of time what she will cook. So, I've committed myself to the portion sizes I will have at each meal. My problem is with between meal snacks and I realize that that will be easier if I just avoid the snacks for a few days. Good luck. Bob

I don't understand what the 5 day pouch test does for you? At the end, what are the results suppose to be? What is the TEST part?
Your story is not unique, I think it almost a mirror of what is happening with me, except I am only 1 year out but at a long long stall in weight loss.
I really am scared that I will regain but just can't get back in the right groove again.

I certainly appreciate all your responses.
Seht, I haven't talked to you in a while. Miss ya man. I know you did the 5 day test and it worked well for you. I'm on day 5 and so far, so good. I've lost a little weight in the past 5 days and ready to move forth.
Batwingsman, I do have a local support group through the surgeon's office. I need to go back and will. It is either this Tuesday or Next. Thanks for reminding me. So easy we forget about things like that.
SJBOB, I will certainly go to Barnes and Noble and check out that book. I know you've mentioned it a few times. I need to break down and buy it.
Ken, the 5 day pouch test is for the post op people that are worried that their pouch is no longer working for them. After the 5 days, you will feel the tightening again and get broken of your carb cravings or binges or grazings. It doesn't make all hte cravings go away, but it certainly does help. Just google "5 day pouch test" and you will see all the information you need. I highly recommend it, especially if you have the gastric bypass surgery and are plateauing and worrying about putting the weight back on. Feel free to IM me if you like or my email address is [email protected]. Sometimes I don't see my messages in OH very quickly, but my emails go directly to my phone.
While I was doing this test, my wife altered her eating a bit too and lost 8 pounds. Not sure in how long, but I was happy to see her try a little bit.
Have a great weekend all. Thanks for the support!
