Long time no talk to... whats up fellas.

Ever since I had to postpone my WLS, I have eaten like complete ****  I mean, garbage.  And I am having a hard time stopping.  It's scaring me a bit cause I go under the knife in less than a month.

Anyone else fall of the wagon before their surgery?

Take Care & Good Luck,
Jason

Yes, I did.  But not for an extended period of time.  What is your surgeon's policy on weight gain prior to surgery?  Does he/she have one?  I've heard of some surgeon's cancelling surgeries due to weight gain, so you may want to keep that in mind.

Even if there is no policy, it's still not a good idea to go "buck wild" in the weeks and days prior to surgery.  There is the "fatty liver" thing plus the fact that you want to ease into the new way of life not wake up and have the first thing on your mind be ribs and beer.

Good luck!

I know that for me, all logic failed me when it came to living up to good to the good reasons for losing weight. It's part of the reason I decided to have WLS. But because the outcome of my surgery was tied to losing weight and shrinking my liver, I followed the NUT's and Doc's nutrition orders prior to surgery. I did it by living just one day and one meal at a time. I didn't look at all the days BEFORE surgery. I just ate like my operation was going to be the next day. Good Luck.

Unless forced to go on a pre-op diet...usually liquid....I think that most WLS patients do binge before surgery at least to some degree.  As mentioned above you need to make sure your surgeon has no restrictions about weight gain.  Also, binging like that could cause your A1C level could go crazy and cause a postponement.  It's best to practice moderation.

I did but it was a conscious thing.  I went to all my favorite spots to get to get the food I never thought I would eat again.  Of course, I can pretty much eat them all.

P.S.  Okay. I had a "last supper" before surgery.  I ate the foods I thought I wouldn't eat for a while. But six weeks after surgery, for my birthday, I ate fillet mignon and baked potato.  I just ate smaller amounts and chewed and chewed and chewed small pieces before swallowing.  I also wrote it all down in my daily food journal.

My first surgery date was cancelled due to finding out I had thyroid cancer. I had to have my thyroid removed and fell off the wagon completely. Mith no metabolism and eating garbage I managed to gain 30#'s in 2 months b4 my surgery.

Your post here shows that you know what you are doing is wrong.  We all need our last supper, but don't over do it.  My surgery was postponed 2 months because of a 10# weight gain.  In the end those 2 months didn't mean much but at the time I was crazy.  You and only you control what goes into your mouth.

Sorry to be a bit bold but you're only damaging yourself and it may not be a smooth operation for your surgeon that has to get underneath your liver.

Shortly before surgery, I kept thinking about blood clots and stuff like having to have the surgery be an open surgery and more time spent recoverying...infections...etc.

By this time, you have to make the choice because surgery is not the easy way out....
