Good information....I too have heard to pound on the protein and it will provide more energy. I've been reading more and more that healthy carbs are pretty darn good before a hard workout. I usually have a slice of wheat bread when I'm driving to the gym with half of a banana. Or, somtimes munch on a protein bar that has carbs. Thanks!
When I'm doing a road race, this has become my routine: 2 hours before the race I have a cup of peppermint tea to wake up the pouch, then I take my time and eat a thoroughly toasted english muffin with peanut butter. 1 hour before the race I eat a banana. After the race I eat another banana with some gatorade.
