Back on the Livestrong.com daily food plate
Well guys, I don't want to give my top ten reasons for gaining weight, but the bottom line is I haven't been mindful about what I have been eating and it is starting to catch up to me. Yesterday, I started going to the daily food plate again and tracking my calories. This practice has always helped me get on track again. I have been very active with cycling, running, etc... but along with that I have also increased my caloric intake signficantly resulting in 7 lbs of weight gain (some of which may be from resistance training and lean muscle). If it wasn't for the excercise, I would be in much worse shape.
I am needing to get back on the wagon with my program. Yesterday, I was amazed at how many calories I ate and drank (2700). It sneaks up on you so quickly especially since I do more snacking now than I used to. Before WLS, I was a binge eater. Now, I graze and eat more slider foods. I still get sick if I eat too much in one sitting, but I have developed some bad habits that are part of adjusting to that problem.
Just keeping it real here. Running for cover.

I did the same thing - yesterday I started journaling my food again at fitday.com. I was at 1250 calories, whi*****luded 101 grams of protein. Today after finishing lunch, I am at 640 calories and 67 grams of protein. Hopefully this journaling - along with the hope that I can make walking a priority in my day rather than the afterthought - will help me get out of my stall.
I should also mention that the journaling made me more aware of snacking/grazing. Even though I would go for high protein foods (light Babybel cheese rounds, for example), every time I grabbed one caused another 50 calories to cha-ching into my system. Every time I grabbed a South Beach cereal protein bar with 10 grams of protein, another 140 calories cha-chinged into my system. My intake yesterday was not typical of what I had been taking in - but is typical of what I SHOULD have been taking in.
Right now after lunch, I am at 871 calories, with 66 grams of protein. I have also had at 64 ounces of water, plus some coffee. I rode my bike into work at about 19 miles an hour for 45 minutes in 33 degree weather. That is supposedly about 967 burned calories according to livestrong. That means I am at negative 90 calories or so over all, and I still have the ride back from work this afternoon. Temps will be much nicer then in the 60s and sunny.
Hey Stephan. Sounds to me like you are binging on anything you can ---> namely exercise. The word of the day should be BALANCE. We have to balance intake, output, time, family, and rest. I know it's great to have this new body and all these new Hobie's, but don't run yourself ragged trying to do it all. Now because of WLS you have a long life to do all these things, you don't have to fit everything in this week.
I got my wife her new skis and accessories at the ski shop sale, did you get your son outfitted at the swap sale?
See you on the slopes,
Robert

Nope, I didn't get my son skis because he didn't want to go, choosing to go to a cross country training event that morning instead. I didn't want to force it with him. He is not as interested in skiing as I am.
You make some good points about my "transfer binging." I would agree with you and part of it is fueled by my fear I will gain all my weight back. I know it is "stinkin thinkin" but it's there. Balance is a good word. You almost sound like a preacher Robert.

Yea, I found some suprising stats on daily plate. I track my cals ins/outs. I thought I could burn gym cals as an off-set on my Doc's recomend of 1900 cals. Hell, burn 1500 cals at the gym plus 1900 for standing/breathingand I have a surplus at bed time. this is not working. Ia'm gaining lean mass but have stalled at 198lbs for 2.5 mos. I see my PCP friday to get advice and labs. I've been losing inches and feel good. Maybe thats my goal. I dont know how some of the guys go on less than 1500 cals. My Doc says I need at least 1900 for standing/breathing forget the exercising. Hmmmmmmmmm??????
