rny and gall bladder
David,
If you and your pardner are still pre-op SERIOUSLY consider letting your surgeon snatch that thing while he/she is in there. Not an MD so can't explain what goes wrong with them but all I know is 18 months past my RNY and I get mine out tomorrow morning.
Took a year of Actigall post op and still have sludge and pain in right rear rib area of my back. Hindsight being what it is, 20/20, would have spent the money and let Dr. Kuhn latch on to it while he was in there when I had my RNY.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
On the day of orientation... my surgeon said insurance companies don't want to pay to have the Gall Bladder out at the same time as RNY. I already have gall stones. I too am on Actigall. I guess now it's just a matter of time before they take it out.

The copy and paste below was from Oct 5 of this month. At the local support group we had the local WLS surgeon speak...
I asked him about RNY and the gallbladder...taking them out at the same time. He said he doesn't like to do that unless it presents a problem at the same time the WLS is occuring. He said about 15% of RNY patients will have problems with their gallbladder post WLS. He said as a surgeon if RNY and Gallbladder are taken care of at the same time it becomes difficult for the surgeon to diagnose post WLS problems that can occur. Was it an organ that was nicked or other problems...It becomes harder for the surgeon to spot the problems doing both at the same time.
