bicycling question

After having RNY how long do most people have to wait before riding a bicycle? I know I will be walking first, but I love cycling. So I cant wait to be able to be back on it again. Back 7 or 8 yrs ago, I was riding 60 to 70 miles a week, and averageing 15 mph.

My surgeon had me wait 8 weeks before I started riding.

I started slow on a stationary bike about two months after surgery, it helped a lot!

1  you'll probably get more responses to your question over the weekend as many men only check the site on weekends ( i.e., with families they may not have time during the week).

2 Go to Forums>Weight Related>Exercise and Fitness and post there also regarding exercise questions. 

I think I started about 6-8 weeks out and just took it easy at first.  Hammering up a hill is too much when you first start, but within time you will be back to some nice rides.  Here in Wisconsin, I will have to wait until the snow melts pretty soon.

Discuss it with your surgeon.  Get clearance from him/her before you start any exercise program.  You'll be back up to speed in no time.  Good luck with your surgery.
