You may find it tough at 3 months out. I didn't get really comfortable eating away from home until about 5 or 6 months. At that point I could eat enough of a variety of food and was used to the portion sizes and pace that eating out was fine. But early on I was really worried about foamies/throwing up and I was still trying out new foods never knowing how I would react to them.
I've never been on a cruise but I always thought they were big on buffets which is obviously going to have no appeal for you. You might have more fun if you put it off until the 6 month mark or later when things have really started to feel normal.
I went away for a week last month to Vegas and some camping in Utah. I didn't have any problems food wise but I think I would have had a really hard time doing something like that a few months earlier.

I am not a cruiser and do not play one on TV, but at about 5.5 months out, I have had to confront some buffets. They are not easy because of the temptation to take too much food and then overeat. There's no such thing as a small plate at a buffet. Plus I understand that there is some type of food out all the time. Grazing is almost more dangerous than overeating.
Can't speak to the foamies with the sway of the ocean waves, but I can't imagine that such a sensation would be pleasant.
If you are extremely disciplined, it may be possible. However, at 3 months, you are on a real downward spiral weight-wise, and you run the risk of undoing your good work - not gaining all the weight back, but losing the new lifestyle habits you will have worked hard to achieve. I would give serious second thoughts before jumping on the emotional side of "go, go, go!" based on what everyone has said.

Just Saying
a cruise does have a lot of food, but ummmm well, so does your kitchen or the restaurant down the street or the supermarket. just cuz it is there does not mean you have be a glutton.
There are rules, follow the rules. it is the same whether you are away from home or at home.
just cuz it is there, does not mean you have to eat it 24/7. it is not what you do at home
i mean, if you are only going on a cruise for the food, you should save your money and just go to the market and stay there for a week.
Just saying… everyone is harping on the food element on cruises. there is so much more to do than just eating.
Just saying Travis, you do not have to make the reservations this far in advance. so get to your day. follow the rules and see where you are at the end of FEB and then make a decision. then.
i certainly am not saying just go go go… but none of you have even ever gone on a cruise. there is more than just food… Just sayin…………
PS. there is a huge free gym on all of the ships that i have been on.

i am glad you had a great time...that is awesome! thanks for thinking to update me...i am going!!!!!
do you have any pointers?????? what did ya eat?
thanks man
I'm really jealous - I love cruises. I think you can do it if you have will power. There is so much to do and alot of walking on the ship and shore - plus ships have gyms - go workout or hit the pool when you feel the urge. I love the adults only pools and the lap pool is a nice workout and fun also.
enjoy.
enjoy.

Travis...
Pointers... i stayed active and made plans to do things each day... this way you feel that you have to get up and go. which i did and had a blast... i did pick a day that i did not plan anything and had just a relax day.
the best thing about cruising... you can do as much as you want or as little as you want. it is my only way to vacation.
as for food... there is so many things to choose from at each and every meal. I ate eggs and sausage or bacon in the am. lunch i ate chicken or burger (no bun) with veggies. dinner was great too. different chooses each night made it easy to find something. i even tried dessert a couple of nights. there was always sugar free options. at least on Royal Carribbean. can not say about others.
I also took my Magic bullet with and used it for my protein drink each day.
any other questions that come up, feel free to ask away...
