This Friday, I will be going to the hospital to do my pre-op testing whi*****ludes the barium test.  My parents are wanting to take me out to a BBQ resturaunt for a last meal.  Will I feel up to it or will I feel too sick?

"Last meal"? uh Do they know something you don't know?  You should be okay but will be making light colored turds for a day or two.

I just know that it will be a while before I can enjoy a meal like this again and will be missing thanksgiving.  So, it is a treat before the surgery.  I was just wondering if I was going to feel too quezy after the pre-op to go out and enjoy a nice meal.

Scotty,

Know what you meant.  BTDT.  Mine was my mother's chicken fried steak!!  Have not tried it post op, yet.  I was implying that they were going to take you out to eat then collect on your life insurance!

The Fish is right.  You will be able to eat BBQ post op after six months or so.  You'll also be eating more steak and seafood!  Not in mass quanities but you can eat it more often and justify it!

It ain't really a last meal. It's just a last meal that includes an entire hog. Chances are you'll be eating BBQ again within a year or so. But just  two ribs and you'll be through.

I know that.  I haven't had BBQ in a long while, and a year or so is a long time out, this will be a nice treat for me.  Not to mention, if I end up dumping on the sugar that is in the BBQ after surgery, things may be different.

One of the very few times I've regretted having the surgery was last February in San Antonio. I was about 15 months out and could eat about anything I wanted to. We went to this place called County Line BBQ down on the Riverwalk. There was a table next to us full of young guys in their twenties and they had all ordered the "Eat All You Can" pork rib dinner. There were platters with thirty or 40 ribs stacked high on them. I was lusting after them mightily. I ordered the three rib dinner and could only eat two of them. It left me with kind of a lonely feeling. Almost like being the only guy at a party who didn't get laid. But I recovered. And I was dang proud to walk miles and miles up and down the Riverwalk w/o my hips feeling like they needed some Astroglide injected in to them.

Till I read the whole post the first thing I thought of was your encounter with the mini-doughnuts!

If I was you I would go for the last meal. I had about 100 last meals and still dream of their greatness.
