Full feeling?
I am 12 days out, I have noticed the "full feeling' everyone speaks of at the very beginning in the hosp and for a few days after I got home, I have started noticing that liquids, I can drink without getting full, I was just put on full liquid/pureed "watery" baby food type stage and I have yet to experience the full feeling, I stop eating after a few bites when I think I have had enough, and am down about 17 pounds since surgery, anyone else experience this at the beginning?
We are almost constantly gettint this comment from newbies. Be aware of your protein and calorie content. Both will gradually increase. As far as being full, you can't really get that feeling until you are on pureed to solid foods. Liquids generally go right through you. You may be able to have sugar free jello but you know that quckly becomes fluid. As far as individula samll meals are concerned, you can probably have 6 small meals with shakes and water or zero per cent fat at first. Since you are already starting on the pureed stage, you will soon start to feel full. Since our brains often don't realize that we are full, it's best to eat slowly and evaluate how full you feel about 20 minutes after you start to eat. You may just be starting out with very small meals, so allow the 20 min to go by before you evaluate whether you are full.
