protien bars and drinks??
My loss has slowed a little and I was wondering what, if any, protien bars you guys use. It seems to be an easy way to get protien quick, especially while at work. I have used Adkins but was wondering if the 160-180 calories is to much(as a meal). Also, at 3+ plus are we allowed to drink more than 4 oz. of a protien shake at one time. I mean if we can drink 20oz of water in 20 - 30 mins, isn't a protien shake the same, but with protien?
I need some advise to get is my protein in a smart way, I have a goal of being 235 by dec 22nd which means I need to average 18 lbs a month.
I am walking 3 miles 4 - 5 times a week for exercise as well as golfing as much as my wife will let me.

I use the premier protien brand available at Sam's Club. They are 270 to 290 calories per bar, about 25% fat, and carry 30g of protein ... yes, that's ten, twenty, thirty grams! It has not affected my loss at all as a meal replacement. It's certainly too much for a snack bar.
Early on when I was calculating, I was running about 700 calories maximum per day. I'm undoubtedly a little higher right now, but the bar fits right into the weight loss regimen. I will have one for breakfast if I'm on the run and often will use it for a supper replacement if I'm running tight on meetings. My wife uses them at school, and between us, we go through a box of 15 in a week and a half or two weeks. They run just over a buck a bar.
Most other bars I've found have been a lot higher in sugar. I did have a Met-rx bar off of a shelf a few days ago and tolerated it well. Don't remember the nutrition info, but it wasn't as positive as the Premier Protein as I recall.

I use the Ka****LC crunch bars as a meal. They come 2 in a pack, at first I could only eat one at a time and would split them up a 1/2 hour a part, eventually I could eat both of them. At 5 years post I still use them.
2 bars - 180 calories - 25g carbs - 4g fiber - 6g protien - 8g sugar
But remember, Kashi products use unprocessed sugars so we can digest them and our bodies can use them for energy. If you read their ingredient label on the box you will see the sugars you should be looking for in everything you eat. AND DON"T FORGET THE FIBER !!!

Actually, the best tasting ones (for me) that I've had come from... well.. snickers.
the Marathon Protein bars are 21-22 or so grams of protein AND 17g of sugars, but these are very filling dense bars. At 6MO out, I still can't eat a whole one in one shot. I use these a lot on days I'm playing paintball, grabbing a few bites between games to keep my protein/energy levels up.
The Marathon Energy are good too, and the stats average about half the Marathon Protein, 10-12g protein, and about 8-9g sugars.
Even tho it's snickers, they are slightly lower in sugars than a lot of other ones out there.
The other onese I like taste wise are the South Beach ones, which tend to run lower in carbs/sugars, similar to the Snickers Marathon Energy.
