How old a fellow are you, if you don't mind me asking? I'd kinda like to start running some, but at 49 I'm afraid of joint damage. I'm making a hand on the elliptical though. It's pretty low impact.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
I'm 44 years old. I do have to say that my feet and knees hurt after that run, but they are doing better today. I don't know what advice to give you other than buy really good shoes and start slow, perhaps working up to a 5k at some point. I found that the tread mill wasn't as hard on my legs as the road.
Stephan, nicely done for both of you. My wife and I are going to do our first half marathon in November. We're just hoping to make the 15 minute per mile cut off for the first 7 miles. I know we can fini**** but I really want to make that cut off. I believe we can do it. We've been making it in our training so far.
