Can anyone tell me what this newest medical study on postate c. is saying, in plain English?   I get the impression they're claiming you live longer if you don't treat it, rather than undergo chemo or radiation therapy  ..  Surely that can't be the case  ..    :

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

Thats just great.  When I think I made it along comes the prostate "C" > My PCP said if I live long enough I will die of prostate cancer.  He told me its such a slow growing cancer forgetaboutit.  Its the treatments and meds that will put you down.  I've got a friend who stopped all meds and treatments so he could live out his final months with a reasonable quality of life.  He has pain meds  but hes out and about doing things.  He wont make Xmas, but hes living large til then.
One of the bravest guys I've known
So Bat as was once said - either get on with living or get on with dying.  Dont try for the in between
Good luck

I am Canadian, 59 years old, and 498 lbs. I had  my medical Nov. 2008 and I had a PSA test for prostate. My numbers were elevated 4.3 from  previous year.  My PCP tested me  again Feb 2009, numbers were 7.2. He then  sent me to prostate oncologist, March 2009; then April 2009 had gold seeds planted. The I hit the proverbial brick wall, the radiation table only supports up to 360 lbs. I lost 20 lbs on my own; my  prostate oncologist then referred me to  a nutritional medicine specialist, June 2009, and  he referred me to one of the top bariatric surgeons in Toronto, Dr Hagen, July 25th. Then one of the best things, my RNY was scheduled for the the 25th of august. 445 lbs. Today I am 396 lbs, Sept 29th. over 100 lbs lost. My next consult with my prostate oncologist is November 27th, 2009. I am sure I will have my 1 day procedure, "brachiatheraphy"  before the new year and be close to 300 lbs. I will keep you posted.

I follow the US, Obama and the universal medical insurance and realize that I could not have afforded the myriad of tests, WLS and least 30 doctors appointments, with the procedures to come.

Good luck and cheers from north of the 49th parallel,

Bob.
