Did anyone get taller after WLS?

I know that some say that weight loss surgery can have some amazing results.. But did anyone get taller after losing weight?  I'm asking because I used to be 6' 2" when I was in my twenties.. but now I'm only 6' 1".  Hm mm. did my weight pull me down, and will I spring back up when it's gone?

And no.. I'm not just looking for an excuse to add an inch to my height, so I can reach my acceptable BMI without losing as much weight.

Thats funny you asked that question... I wondered about my height change as well.

I FELT taller - cuz I was able to straighten up more (no belly to pull me down). But when I actually measured myself, I am an inch shorter than I was in my 20's. I did not measure myself before surgery, but I assume this is more of an age thing than as a result of the surgery.

Everyone as they get older gets shorter.  It is called degenerative disk disease.  Basically, the cushion between the vertibre gets smaller, thus decreasing your size.

Those that are overweight tend to speed this process up as the weight puts more stress on those discs.

Hey Hercules!!!

I had my WLS back on Jan 2006. I always said that I was 6 feet tall, but at the time they measured me before the surgery they told me: "No, No you are 5' 11".
I asked that data to be revised and to my surprise there were no mistakes at all. I used to be 305 lb before the surgery and lost weight to my lowest of 185 lbs and my height nowadays is 6' 1". I still don get it. I still think that those scales with height rulers are not accurate, but, here you have my story... By the way going on with measures I came from being size XXXL to size L and from using pants size 50 going down to 34.

Gook luck growing up in height and going down in pounds and sizes.

Best regards

Well you give me some hope. I was 6' 1" and now they say I am down to 5'11.5" I would like to be back in the 6ft club again. Good work on your WLS.

Never argue with an idiot! They just drag you to their level and beat you with experience!
