Post-Op Meds Question
This weekend, while moving boxes to my garage to prepare for putting our house on the market, I was reminded that I may eventually need pain and anti-inflammatory meds again. I have already had one lower back surgery and with advanced degenerative disk disease, I may need it again in the future.
My question is what would I take if this happened post-op?
I have a couple of herniated discs and I have been takeing the following since 2000.
Hydrocodone - (vicotin)
Tramadol
Advil
You shouldn't mix hydrocodone with tylenal because it alredy has it mixed in. Some doctors will tell you not to take the advil, but I have had no problems and my doctors keep a good check on my liver function so that if I would have a problem they will catch it early. I have had no stommach issues with the advil.

Anti-inflammatories can cause ulcers for anyone, the risk is just a little greater after WLS, that doesn't mean you can't use them. Make sure your Dr ok's it before you use them. I understand why you were asking, I'm just saying that you don't need to worry about not having pain med choices post WLS, there are plenty of options.
