First Appointment
Well tomorrow monring is my first appointment with the surgeon I have chosen. I am both anxious and nervous. Fear still remains an item of the past in respects to what is hopefully in my future. After the surgeon I have an appointment with the nutritionist and my PCP. This is my first visit with my PCP since making this decision, it was my last appointment with him that finally had me make up my mind.
Once I have been able to digest everything I'll post an update.
On the upside my 7 year old son has decided he wants to go workout with me starting next week. he is about 6 months into karate and has decided he is going to do whatever it takes to earn his blackbelt, only 2 more years of hard work on his part till he should get it.

Good luck with that first appointment. Don't forget to listen carefully to what the doc says. Don't be afraid to take notes... even if you get a printed handout. Also make sure you follow the doctor's and nutritionists recommendations.

Hi Paul, my consult is on the 16th and I understand your nervousness and anxiety. I have it too. I just want to make sure I am confident in what I am doing before they start cutting on the dotted line.

Firsy appointment went great. I am seeing Dr. Macik in the Atlanta area, both he and his staff were very nice and informative. Like I figured I have to go through a period of supervised diet. There is a 6 month plan or 3 month plan which is a bit more intense. Naturally I opted for the 3 motnh plan so I was giving the contact information for the clinic my insurance requires me to go through. I have that appointment set for Monday morning.
Dr Macik feels that my goal of 180-190 is very realistic. I inquired about the post op diet plan since these boards seem to show that the doctors post op diet plans are all over the place. I'll be on liquids for a week and puree for a week but soon after that they say they introduce foods on a weekly basis. Fresh green veggies in about 4 weeks.
He said with my insurance it is not a question of if you have the surgery but when. I am pretty psyched at this point. Monday I start the plan!
