Very happy for you, man! 
I have two of my own, 2 1/2 and 11 weeks...
I can safely say this... you have no idea how fortunate you are to be able to have this surgery NOW instead of after the birth! Getting this out of the way and shedding a good portion of the weight ahead of time will do wonders for you while you're holding and walking your newborn around. My approval came three days after the birth of my second... my fat a$$ is dying with two kids! 10/13/2009 can't come soon enough!

That is so cool! Congrats! How was the cruise? Where in Canada did you end up.
As far as the news your wife gave you- man- be prepared. I wish the three of you nothing but health and happiness! I think the biggest thing I discovered when my boys were born is I wasn't totally ready for looking into a new born eyes and suddenly realize what true love is- talk about a mind and life altering moment..lol. It's going to blow the two of you away!!
