Sleep Apnea Test - Update
Monday: Wife calls bariatric center and primary physician.
Monday: Bariatric Center sets up the 16th for consultation.
Monday: Primary Physician evals me and sets me up for a sleep study, gives me a referral to the bariatric doc, and had me sign permission slip to release records to the bariatric doctor.
Tuesday or Wednesday: Called to register for the bariatric consult and I had them set up the psych eval the same day.
Friday: Sleep study is set up for Sunday.
Now, if I can only get the hospital to go ahead and schedule the GI, EKG and bloodwork, I will be well on my way.
I am wondering if they are going to have me do the 6 month or go ahead and set it up. I actually would like to skip the 6 months as my High Deductible insurance is already at 100% and I wouldn't have to pay a dime of anything. That would ROCK!
just got my bypap today at lunch, going to try it at night, i think it is going help!!!!!

I use to have to sleep with a bypacp. I was so bad I had to have an o2 concentrater hooked up to the bypacp too .And now ? Nothing I can sleep with out a machine. Once you get use to it , its great . I.m willing to bet you will get some of the best sleep that you have had in a long time.
As far as the 6 month diet? If you have had your pcp for a while talk to him/her. Maybe he/her will just sign off on that if he or she knows that you have tryed to diet in the past. Which I,m sure you have just like all of the rest of us.
Good health and best wishes
Nick
If you need surgery this year to avoid out of pocket, there are a couple of DS surgeons in your state that do the DS without a 6 month preop diet.

I do have years worth of Weigh****chers **** 1 time, way before kids, I was able to lose 85 pounds (only 60 was on the ww plan). However, when kids were born, I exploded again and never went back down. I will present that to the doc at the consult. My PCP would sign just about anything for me. I think he has just gotten tired of fighting everyone. If someone shows enough initiative to come talk to him and let them know that they have been considering the surgery, he will do just about anything to make it happen.
I went ahead and changed my anti-depressant from Lexapro to another type to see if I could get away from the sleepiness before the apnea test. Today, it seems to have worked. I didn't feel like I was going to fall asleep as I usually do. On top of that I spent most of the day with a smile on my face. (Who knows, it may be because I am finally seeing a way out of the weight issue that I currently have.
Thanks all for the comments. Again, my wife and I will be trying everything to get this surgery to happen this year. 0 fees would be awesome.

I live in Wellington - where are you?
Schauer is a fantastic surgeon - just plan extra time whe you have appointments with him because, as some of his staff has said, he works on S.S.T. - Schauer Standard Time. Everyone else stays on schedule, but he is chronically behind schedule. But I'll take that and a good surgery compared to a schlock cutter who is prompt to the minute.
